Meet the Providers:
Dr. Surekha Shenoy joined the Doctors’ Pediatric family in May of 2022. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is a Board-Certified Pediatrician. After completing her Pediatrics Residency at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital in New Jersey, she worked at Darien Pediatrics from 2008 to 2020. Her interest in a child’s overall well-being has led her to complete a certification in Child and Adolescent mental health with the REACH Institute in NYC in 2019. She is dedicated to supporting her patients physically, mentally, and emotionally as they progress through various stages of life – from their newborn days to adulthood. She is a strong advocate for breastfeeding.
Dr. Shenoy also believes that promoting positive mental health and looking at mental health through a public health lens is critical in young children and teens. Her interests include anxiety, depression, and ADHD. Her goal is to work together with her patients to help keep them healthy and thriving.
Fast Five, Fun Facts:
- I love musicals and my favourite of all time is The Phantom of the Opera.
- Besides my own two daughters I’m obsessed with my nieces and nephews ( I have MANY ) and love hanging out with them.
- I collect Indian incense and am addicted (in a good way) to aromatherapy.
- My favourite movies of all time…Sound of Music and GANDHI.
- My favourite book of all time has to be …… To Kill a Mockingbird. I cried a LOT
Dr. Jessica Foertsch joined the practice in August of 2022. Dr. Foertsch knew she wanted to become a doctor her whole life. She grew up in a small town near Hartford, Connecticut. She completed her undergraduate degree at Elmira College, studying both Biology and Chemistry, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and went to study medicine at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she determined she wanted to become a pediatrician and loves working with children of all ages. SheDr. Foertsch underwent residency at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in Long Island during the COVID pandemic. Dr. Foertsch is a board-certified pediatrician, a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians, and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is excited to move back to Connecticut with her fiancé and pet bunny. She loves listening to/playing music, playing tennis, baking, and arts and crafts
Fast Five, Fun Facts:
- I have a pet bunny. Her name is Bella. She is a Rex bunny (the same kind as the Velveteen Rabbit). She is white with black spots. She is litter-trained and loves to hop around the house when we are home. She is 7 years old, and I got her during medical school. She used to help me study for my exams
- I have a wonderful younger brother. His name is Steven. He is getting his Ph.D. in Sociology at Baylor in Texas. We are very close, and I like to send him care packages.
- I am getting married to the love of my life in 2.5 weeks. His name is Dylan and he is amazing! We met in college and have been together for almost 13 years. I am very, very excited to finally get married! My fiancé is a science teacher and hockey coach for a high school in White Plains.
- I love to travel. I am going to Italy in October for my honeymoon. I have been on many adventures in the past; I have ridden an elephant, camel, and horse in the past, and I have been in a hot-air balloon!
- I am left-handed, which is very helpful when playing singles tennis. I was the captain of my high school tennis team, and still play here and there today. I am interested in starting to play pickleball.
Dr. Katz joined the Doctors’ Pediatric family in April of this year. He grew up in Vero Beach, FL, and attended the University of Miami for his undergraduate degree. He attended St. George’s University in Grenada for medical school, completing his clinicals in Miami. Dr. Katz trained for residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and is board-certified in pediatrics and a member of the AAP.
Dr. Katz loves working with kids of all ages and has a strong interest in helping with mental health. He is excited to move to the Connecticut area with his wife, dog, and cat. His interests include ice hockey, snowboarding, traveling, and eating good food with his wife.
Fast Five, Fun Facts:
- I grew up in Florida, but my family is from New York originally.
- Despite growing up in Florida my hobbies were hockey, lacrosse, and snowboarding
- Me and my wife are foodies, and most weekends will catch us trying new restaurants
- We have a yellow lab named Tucker and a cat named Nala
- This will be my first winter up North, wish me luck!
Fast Five, Fun Facts:
- I love to hike. I hope to go with my family to national parks when my kids are a little older but for now like to take them to the nature preserves around Ridgefield
- You can wake me up in the middle of the night for chocolate chip cookies
- I used to be a swimmer and spent my summers growing up at a wilderness swim camp in Canada where we swam in cold lakes.
- My husband is from Amsterdam and I am trying (struggling) to learn Dutch while we raise our sons bilingual
