Are you an expectant mother? Whether this is your first child, or one of many, Doctors’ Pediatric has some helpful advice to help you prepare for your new baby.
Preparing for “The Big Day”
Many hospitals provide child birthing and child care classes that will help ready you for the delivery of your baby. A number of local hospitals also offer tours of the labor and delivery floor, so you can feel comfortable and know what to expect when your baby is born.
Healthcare
When choosing a pediatrician for your newborn, try to avoid selecting a physician at random from your health insurance’s directory. It is important to find a pediatrician that you can trust and feel comfortable with so you can be confident in the decision making process about the medical care of your child. Doctors’ Pediatric offers prenatal consults, at no cost, so that you may meet with one of our physicians face-to-face and get a better feel of what our practice has to offer you and your family.
Breastfeeding
Breastfeeding is a natural and often joyful experience shared by mother and baby. It can, however, be a source of frustration and disappointment for many families. At Doctors’ Pediatric, we are proud to provide support for breastfeeding mothers in the form of lactation consultations. At one of these visits, our certified lactation specialist, Dr. Meredith Renda, will observe a feeding and provide ongoing instruction, guidance and support for mom and baby. Whether you are a first time parent, or a seasoned mom, Dr. Renda will provide you with the tools for a happy and healthy breastfeeding experience for both mom and baby.
As you move closer to your due date, we welcome any questions and concerns that may arise. Please feel free to contact our office and one of our helpful staff members will be available to address your concerns.
