The Open Air/Outdoor Well Visit…….

open air/outdoor visitsDoctors’ Pediatric is pleased to announce the start of our Open Air/Outdoor Well Visit.  We remain committed to patient safety during this uncertain time.  Not only does that include safety from COVID-19 exposure, but it also means keeping up with well child exams and appropriate vaccines.   Now, more than ever, we need to be diligent with vaccine schedules so that society does not see a rise in vaccine preventable diseases while we do our best to tamp down COVID-19.   The first wave of patients (besides children 2 and under) that we will target for well child visits/vaccines include 4/5 years old, 11 years old, and college bound children. These patients have the most urgent vaccine needs at this time.

Doctors’ Pediatric is Expecting!

We are pleased to announce that we have a new doctor joining our staff in October of 2018. We are taking this opportunity to introduce Dr. Eugenia Volkin.  Dr. Volkin attended SUNY-Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine and completed her residency at Weill Cornell Medical Center. Having grown up on the East Coast, Dr. Volkin is excited to practice in Connecticut. She has recently moved to Easton from NYC with her husband and infant son. Dr. Volkin’s interests include cooking, traveling and spending time with her extended family. Dr. Volkin is also fluent in Russian. Dr. Volkin was carefully chosen from a large pool of candidates and we are looking forward to having her meet all of our Doctors’ Pediatric families.

Summer Sun Safety

It wasn’t long ago that we would think nothing of sitting on the beach without sunscreen or worse, covered in baby oil. Sunburns never seemed that dangerous in that they would fade in a day or two and your skin was left with a nice glow.  Our knowledge has changed over the years, and we now know that sun exposure of any kind can be harmful without the proper protection.  The sun’s UV rays can cause damage to the skin in as little as 15 minutes.  Prolonged damage from time in the sun is a setup for skin cancer. Dr. Renda’s Remedies For Common Breastfeeding Issues/ Concerns

My baby always falls asleep while nursing, and then she/he is hungry a ½ hour later.

When babies are first born it is natural for them to sleep about 16 – 18 hours a day. This can present a challenge when trying to nurse a newborn and provide adequate nutrition. One of the most common complaints from even the most experienced mother is that her baby falls asleep 2 – 3 minutes into the breastfeed. This makes sense for a multitude of reasons. (1) Naturally sleepy baby (2) Nursing naturally relaxes and creates a setup for a sleepy newborn (3) Newborns tire out quickly. The first two issues will get better with time as baby grows. The third issue is something with which we can help. [Read more…] about Dr. Renda’s Remedies For Common Breastfeeding Issues/ Concerns
